WHAT TO PACK FOR A LAKE DAY
Hey y’all! Lake days are the best, especially when you’re packed well. This post will focus on day trips. There are different types of lake days, so I will separate it into these sections:
Basic Lake Day Packing List
SUP Packing List
Boat Packing List
Island Cookout Packing List
BASIC LAKE DAY PACKING LIST
Small First Aid Kit
Ibuprofen, Benadryl, Antacids
Change of Dry Clothes
Sunscreen (Here is my favorite)
Brush & Hair Ties
Phone Charger/Power Pack
Raft
Small Cooler
Trash Bag
Paper Towels
Beach Towel
Chair (I like to pack a beach style chair because I always like to be in the water)
Start with this list, then add on to this depending on your lake activities. Y’all ready to dive in to other lake activities?
SUP PACKING LIST
SUP on Lake Ouachita in Arkansas
What should I pack for a SUP day? Read below. We’ve got you covered.
SUP Air Pump
Inflatable Paddleboard
Paddle
Leg Leash
Dry Bag (This one is my favorite)
Change of Dry Clothes
Floating Water Box for Wallet & Keys (this makes it easier to find in your bag, and if you need to get into your bag while you’re on the water you won’t have to worry about losing your wallet and keys)
SUP cup holder
You can sort through he list above and decide what you need to take with you on your SUP and what can stay at home base. Sometimes I don’t have a beached spot where I have a home base to go back to, I decide what is important for the day and find a way to pack it on my SUP without over packing. I take my small backpack cooler on my SUP with me because sometimes, even if I beach up somewhere I like to have stuff with me. I like to stay very hydrated when I’m on the water.
BOAT PACKING LIST
Hotel Island on Lake Ouachita
This is not an all-inclusive boat list. This is a day trip list once you already have all the safety features and basics on your boat.
Mid size cooler (this is mine)
Lake trash bag - You can find a reusable net trash bag on amazon, I have one they give away from the gulf coast.
Rafts, noodles, floating mats
Fishing Gear
Dry Bag (here is my favorite one again)
Floating Water Box for Wallets, Keys
First Aid Kit - I know this was in the basic list, but we have found a bigger kit that we keep on the boat has gotten us out of some jams. We keep blood clotting agents, an epi pen, etc. Think about what your personal needs are and always air on the side of caution. When you’re in the middle of a large lake it may take some time to get back to civilization even with a fast boat.
Beach Towels - I always bring extra. The boat ride home can be cool if you stay out long enough to enjoy the sunset.
Sunset near Brady Mountain on Lake Ouachita
ISLAND COOKOUT PACKING LIST
What you need to pack will depend on your meal plan, but here is a list to cover the basics that you can build on.
Charcoal & Charcoal Starter
Small Grill
Tongs & Spatula
Welding Gloves
Nitrile Gloves - keeps my hands clean when working with meat or other messy foods.
Paper Towels
Trash Bag
Ziplocs
Clorox Wipes
Paper Plates
Plastic Utensils
Seasoning
Foil
