Espresso at Camp
Yes, you read that correctly. My daughter bought me the best thing since sliced bread. We were in Colorado for her graduation trip (camping of course!) and she surprised me with a new espresso maker made by GSI.
The First Cup
We woke up in Crested Butte, CO with the view of a field with Mule Deer grazing and a gorgeous sunrise trying to crest over the mountain peak. Ryan got out our Kelty Loveseat and I made us espresso. It pulled the perfect shot! I couldn’t believe, here I am, sitting at a primitive camp. No running water. No electric. Just us and our expedition trailer surrounded by Colorado’s breathtaking beauty.
GSI Mini Espresso Set Tips
There isn’t too many tips that are needed I’ll give you just a few things I’ve learned since I’ve had it.
- Don’t overfill the filter cup with espresso grounds. Follow the instructions and it presses the perfect puck automatically.
- When making more than one, let it cool where it is easy to touch. Wash it, then make your next one. It can warp if you don't let it cool in between uses.
- Use good quality espresso roast. You don't want to use a medium roast coffee or something that will pull bitter tasting.
